Both Boys and Girls Teams Advance to District Championship Games This Week

The Union County High School Patriot and Lady Patriot Basketball teams had a busy weekend during the district playoffs at Pigeon Forge High School for the District 3-AA Tournament.

GIRLS
The Lady Patriots who are having the best season in years, had a bye on Friday as they were number 2 in the district and were ranked at #8 in the state. They took another win in the district tournament on Saturday as they defeated Fulton by a final score of 43 to 31.

The Lady Patriots are scheduled to play in the District 3-AA Championship Game on Monday night, February 22 at 7:30pm against Gatlinburg-Pittman.

BOYS
The Patriots boys are coming on strong in the tournament as well. The Patriots defeated Pigeon Forge with a final score of 66 to 49 on Friday, February 19th and advanced to the semi-final game.

In the semi-final game on Saturday, February 20th, the Patriots turned on the heat and defeated Austin East with a final score of 97 to 93.

The Patriots also advance to the Championship Game and are scheduled to play Fulton on Tuesday, February 23 at 7:30pm.

The girls were 22 – 4 overall so far this season and the boys were 12 -15 overall so far this season.
